The Peru Tapir Andino Red Honey coffee is a mesmerizing medium roast that resonates with the heart of coffee connoisseurs. Grown in the lush, verdant terrains of the San Ignacio Province in Cajamarca, this coffee is a testament to the rich biodiversity of Peru. The beans, cultivated at an altitude ranging from 1350m to 1890m, are of the Bourbon, Caturra, Mundo Novo, and Typica varietals. They undergo the red honey process, which involves leaving some of the fruit's mucilage on the beans during drying, imparting a distinctive sweetness and body to the coffee.
The cooperative effort of smallholder farmers from the Cooperativa Agraria Frontera San Ignacio ensures that each bean is nurtured with care and sustainability, creating a cycle of economic and environmental stewardship. The cooperative's collaboration with the importer DR Wakefield and COOPAFSI on the project “El Oso” to preserve forests near coffee-growing areas is a commendable endeavour that enhances the coffee's narrative.
